How it Works
Hungry Bark lets you shop in two ways: customized plans or off the shelf.
To customize your meal plan, Hungry Bark will ask you to fill out a questionnaire about your dog. There are questions about what breed of dog you have and how much they weigh. From there, a proprietary algorithm that was made by certified pet nutritionists will take the important factors into consideration (things like age, breed, weight, allergies, sensitivities, likes, and dislikes) and create a tailored meal plan that best suits your dog’s needs and tastes.
Once you’ve placed your order, it will be shipped out on the same day (as long as it is ordered before 1 PM EST, otherwise it’ll ship next-day). Shipping takes anywhere from 2-8 days. Hungry Bark has expedited shipping for an additional fee if you want your order sooner. You can also sign up for a subscription plan that automatically delivers your dog food on a set schedule.
Alternatively, you can just pick items off the shelf to purchase. You can also have a subscription for these a la carte shopping items if you want them delivered on a regular basis.
Food Variety & Quality
Hungry Bark is the real deal. And by the real deal, we mean it’s all-natural. There are no fillers or artificial preservatives, and all the proteins are real meats. What’s more, each Hungry Bark meal is packed with superfoods like chicory root extract, coconut oil, dehydrated alfalfa meal, brewers dried yeast, and brown rice. Each of these ingredients does its job to enhance your dog’s health and wellbeing. For example, brewers dried yeast is loaded with vitamin B and antioxidants, supporting healthy skin, vision, and liver function. Apple cider vinegar supports healthy digestive tracts. And so on. Added ingredients like these give you the impression that Hungry Bark really knows what it’s talking about and hasn’t just slapped a “healthy” label onto its products for the look of things.
In terms of the ingredients used, meals are made using real proteins, including chicken, lamb, turkey, duck, and salmon. BTW, Hungry Bark ingredients are all responsibly-sourced, cage-free poultry, farm-raised animal products, and non-GMO vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Hungry Bark meals are also fortified with probiotics, vitamins, and minerals, making Hungry Bark meals some of the healthiest meal options you can give to your dog. Hungry Bark makes meals fresh, and it slow-cooks them for enhanced flavor.
You can choose from several flavors, including turkey, duck, chicken, lamb, and salmon, and Hungry Bark has grain-free meals as well.
Additional Products Available
In addition to nutritious meals, Hungry Bark offers a line of products meant to enhance your dog’s meals. Known as protein mix-ins, these flavor packets are made with all-natural ingredients. The ingredients are freeze-dried raw, so the flavor really gets sealed in. You can add the packet to your dog’s meal for a boost of flavor. This is particularly useful if you have a pup who is particular about their food.
Hungry Bark also has health supplements you can give to your dogs. USA-made treats help promote hip and joint health, better digestion, shinier skin and coat, heart health, and anxiety relief. What we really like about Hungry Bark supplements is that these chewables can be given as a treat without any guilt.
And as an aside, Hungry Bark gives back to dogs in need. The company started a program called “Round Up for Pups” that gives needy dogs food and other essentials with every purchase made. Additionally, Hungry Bark donates products to rescue organizations around the world.
Hungry Bark meals range from approximately $13-$18.99 depending on the flavor of choice as well as how much and how often you buy. You’ll pay less if you order in bulk. Supplement chews cost $19, and protein mix-ins cost $12 each without auto-shipping discounts.
Hungry Bark also has a membership plan that you can subscribe to for more savings on your frequent orders. When you first sign up, you’ll get 20% off your shipment. You’ll also receive 10% off each subsequent order you place with Hungry Bark. Membership also has a few more perks, including access to Hungry Bark’s in-house clinical pet nutritionist and exclusive Hungry Bark Facebook community access. Not sure why that’s so special, but we still think the membership is worthwhile for two reasons: 1. You get discounted rates on all orders 2. There’s no time commitment, so you can cancel whenever you want.
